Christmas Time Is Here

Expecting Christmas Surprise

This has been my favorite Christmas season yet. For a guy who begins listening to Christmas music in June, this is no small statement. You see, every year I always anticipate the beautiful traditions and soothing predictability of the season's rhythm, but this year I've been watching the festivities through the eyes of my 5 year-old and 2 year-old kids. For them, the holidays are not about tradition, but discovery, wonder and the dazzling surprise of it all. This Sunday we are going to focus on "The Magnificat" (Luke 1:46-55), a poem eloquently expressing Mary's complete surprise and awe at God's miraculous work in her life and in salvation history. It's my prayer that as we read this work of God-breathed art, we can together enjoy a momemt of awe and wonder at the surprising magnificence of GOd's grace in our lives!
