Romans - Living The Gospel

(Dec 06) Why We All Need the Gospel: Defining the Gospel

I think one of the easiest things to do is compare ourselves with others. I may not be perfect but at least….it’s a very easy thing to do. The problem is not comparison. It’s perfection. We can strive to be good but if the standard is perfection, I guess we can all pack our bags. Unless of course God has a plan to cure imperfection, and He does. I cannot think of a more clear passage of Scripture that describes the human condition and the cure than Romans 3. There it is in plain sight. And yet so many people are still trying to figure it out on their own refusing to acknowledge God’s solution because of some misunderstanding of who He is. God is not a malevelolent deity that wishes to destroy us because we are human and imperfect, nor is he a push over who can look the other way. But He is the most compassionate, sacrificial, loving, and gracious deity that exists. He invites the entire universe to accept his cure. There are no hoops, jumps, ropes or pull up bars in Christianity. I am simply amazed how many are repelled by this message of hope, forgiveness, compassion, new life, eternity. It’s there for the asking. But you have to want it.
