Jesus' Message, Our Message: The Hope of the Good News
Does it seem like the world around us is changing faster than our minds can process? World events, cultural shifts, tragedy and evil attacks here and across the seas, familiar norms upended, disunity and disparagement, all this may bring confusion, anxiety, and even a feeling of being unmoored from anything solid and reliable.
Our teaching team and staff at The River believe strongly that the Holy Spirit has led us to journey through the book of Acts for a timely and hopeful purpose in this season of our collective life. This weekend, we come to Peter’s explanation of what was happening in the wild, unsettling, epoch-changing arrival of the Holy Spirit to create a small but growing family of Jesus-followers. This first sermon [read Acts 2:14-41] ever heard by a church declares an immovable bedrock of Good News, and no matter the chaos of disruption, it gives us stability and confidence, hope and even joy, to live a life of purpose in alignment with the goodness and intention of our great God!
