Foster the City

Equipping churches to provide loving homes for children in foster care.

"There are more children entering into foster care than there are foster families ready to open their hearts and homes.
Every day, in our cities, children are being removed from their biological families due to allegations of abuse or neglect. In addition to this harsh reality, many of these kids are shuffled around and displaced from their communities due to a shortage of loving and supported foster homes.
We believe that the church is uniquely positioned and called to answer this need. Together, we’re working towards a day when there will be a waiting list of families, rather than a waiting list of children in need of a home."

Serving the Foster Youth

Volunteer Opportunities

Becoming a Foster Parent.
The city of LA needs more foster families ready to take in foster youth! Are you curious about what it would look like to open up your home to welcome a foster child? We would love to have a conversation with you about it!

Becoming a Host Family.
Olive Crest, one of the great organizations that works with foster youth in Los Angeles, runs a program called "Host Families." Host families take in a child on a short term basis (on average 2 days to 1 month) to help families in need. Host families are the best preventative pathways keeping kids out of the foster care system.

Becoming a Support Family.
Support families help to care for Foster Families. We desire for every foster family to have 4 support families who care for them with two points of contact per month: (1) meeting a practical need - providing childcare, a meal, running an errand, etc.; (2) providing encouragement - notes, prayer, etc. Support families help foster families stay in Foster Care ministry for the long-haul!
