Joy to the World

More than any other holiday or season, Christmas is filled with singing! What other has its own genre of music where top artists put out the same 10 Christmas songs?! Christmas should be filled with singing! For there is no better way to respond to the Christmas narrative than to sing songs of joy and wonder! This is what Luke records for us in his Gospel account. In Luke's nativity narrative, key characters burst out in songs of praise and adoration - Mary, Zechariah, the Angels, and Simeon. Just as they should when they are responding to and comprehending the Christmas miracle! After focusing on the first three characters this Advent season, it is time to turn to the last song - Simeon's song of praise when he held the 6 week old Jesus in his arms. Let's tune our ears to Simeon's song in order to move our hearts into the miracle of Christmas. For this miracle will provide joy to the world!
